Marine Ecosystem Decontamination Units (MEDUs)
Autonomous, AI-driven robots that attempt to remediate severely polluted marine environments. Deploys countermeasures based on site and level of pollutants using multiple technologies such as bioremediation, chemical degradation, and physical removal of pollutants. They analyze water samples and coordinate remediation efforts. They include filtration systems for microplastics, oil spill dispersal mechanisms and carbon capture technology. Aimed at halting further ecosystem collapse, although focused on 'buying time' rather than true restoration. MEDUs also are deployed to monitor wildlife populations.
